Inaugural BHPH United Summit Proves an Outstanding Success for Dealers

The event, dedicated to providing education, training, and resources to buy here-pay here dealers, was held April 10-12 at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS (April 22, 2022) – Nearly 400 attendees made up of buy here-pay here dealers from across the country immersed themselves in three days of education, training, and networking at the inaugural BHPH United Summit held at the world-class Bellagio Hotel & Casino earlier this month. Unique to this event was the absence of a trade expo that allowed dealers to focus solely on operations, industry trends, and expert insights and advice designed to enhance their business and improve net profit.

Jason March, general manager of March Motors in Jacksonville, Fla., a dealership that sells and finances more than 1,000 vehicles annually, attended the Summit and also presented a session, “What Makes a Good Deal.” He was impressed with the expertise from all session presenters, including those offered by dealers.

“I loved the dealer-centric format without the vendor expo,” March said. “I learned that at most industry events vendors can make up 50 to 60 percent of the attendees. The Summit’s sessions and networking opportunities were all about the dealers, and the information provided will definitely help me in my business.”

Six key industry service providers founded BHPH United in early 2021. These founding partners, in conjunction with a Dealer Advisory Board, developed the Summit’s educational program to give dealers — regardless of size and years in business — information they could take home and put to use immediately.

The board wanted an education program free from sales pitches and vendor expositions, and focus on solely educating dealers on the BHPH industry.

The Summit’s organizers were overwhelmed by the positive responses from attendees.

“As a founding partner,” said William Neylan, president and CEO of TaxMax, “I am pleased to say the BHPH United Summit exceeded every possible expectation.”

The quality of the education, dealers, Dealer Advisory Board, food, venue, everything — was first-class, Neylan added.

“While the education was geared towards BHPH dealers, there was much valuable information provided about being in business in general. Even though I am not a dealer, I learned many things that I can apply to make my business stronger. We will be back next year and it will be even bigger and better!”

Sessions fell into one of 4 tracks: Sales; Underwriting and Collections; Inventory/Recon/Service; and Human and Financial Management and were presented by some of the industry’s most respected dealers and trainers.

Each day of education ended with a Dealer-Led Open Forum session where all attending dealers shared their insights into the marketplace, their successes and failures, and issues they are facing to provide real-world experience to the agenda.

“We've already received tremendous feedback from dealers asking about next year’s event and other plans,” said Steve Levine, owner, Ignite Consulting Partners. “We look forward to making this the ‘go-to’ event for dealers wanting to learn and improve.”

Bob Rainey, dealer principal of Rainey Used Cars, a BHPH dealership with nine locations in Georgia, was impressed.

“It was well worth our time,” he said. “If you missed it, make plans for next year.”
